War Risk Coverage for up to 100% of the benefit limit

"As a specialist in the war risk field, Sutton Reinsurance can offer capacity in the most dangerous regions of the globe."

With political unrest escalating, particularly in the Middle East, insurers have become increasingly concerned about exposure to war risk.

Sutton Reinsurance offers war risk coverage which is designed to protect Life and Personal Accident insurers against these exposures.

There are many dangerous regions in the world where armed conflict is either actively occurring or where the threat is looming. Despite this, employees often need to travel to these regions for business purposes and unfortunately this puts them in a high risk situation.

War risk is typically included in life insurance contracts, and excluded in accidental death insurance contracts. Businesses who send their employees into these high risk regions want to provide coverage to their employees.

Insurers can look to Sutton Reinsurance for their expertise and to reinsure the risk up to 100%, backed by top rated Lloyd's security.

Sutton Reinsurance offers war risk coverage on a stand-alone basis or as part of a 24-hour business and pleasure benefit. As a specialist in the war risk field, Sutton Reinsurance can offer capacity in the most dangerous regions of the globe.

There are two ways in which coverage can be extended to include war risk:

  1. A stand-alone contract covering war risk only; this is appropriate for individuals travelling to a country with "hot" war conditions for a specific period of time.

  2. Removal of the war risk exclusion in the existing policy (e.g. Business Travel, Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment etc.); this is appropriate for firms which carry out their activities internationally, and so expose their employees to potential war risks.

Reinsurance can be purchased on a quota share or excess basis.

General information requirements include; number of lives exposed; sums insured per life; destination; and length of stay. Please follow the link to the Sutton Reinsurance questionnaire.
