  • J. Greg Sutton, President & CEO

    Following his acquisition of Sutton Special Risk in 2011, Greg Sutton has served as its President and CEO, having held senior positions within the company and elsewhere in the industry since 1995, including in the Lloyd’s market and a large international reinsurer. Greg has led Sutton’s rapid growth through expansion into new product lines and strategic partnerships and by building unique capabilities to better serve Sutton’s valued clients.

    Greg holds a BA from the University of Toronto and has been an active participant in Quantum Shift at the Richard Ivey School of Business, a rigorous developmental program that annually challenges 40 of Canada’s entrepreneurs to enhance their leadership skills and maximize growth.

  • CAROL GRAHAM, EVP & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

    Carol was appointed COO of Sutton Special Risk in 2011 and serves on its board of directors. Prior to becoming COO, Carol held senior operations and marketing positions at Sutton. In her current role, she is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the company’s underwriting, sales, claims, service and administration support. Before joining Sutton, Carol was Vice President of Affinity Markets at ACE INA, and prior to that she held executive underwriting roles within the reinsurance industry.

    Carol holds a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto and has her life and A&S licences in all provinces and territories.

  • David Silva, Vice President

    From 1986 to 1996 David held several progressive positions with a large Canadian Life Insurer in both the Life and A&H reinsurance areas. In 1996, he was asked to do a three-year assignment in Germany. During this time, he established the company as a significant lead A&H reinsurance market in Continental Europe. He was responsible for all front office functions: strategic business planning, underwriting, sales, and marketing.

    In 1999, he returned to Canada, as an Assistant Vice President, to augment the team responsible for growing the North American book of A&H business. David joined Sutton Reinsurance Underwriters in 2004 and is responsible for expanding and underwriting the company’s book of business on a worldwide basis

    David graduated from York University with Specialized Honours in Economics.

  • Doris Lai, Assistant Vice President

    Doris Lai has spent most of her 25-year insurance industry career as an Accident and Health reinsurance underwriting specialist. Since 1993 Doris has held progressive underwriting positions at two major Canadian reinsurers. In addition, Doris has taken on several management functions over the years.

    Doris joined Sutton Reinsurance in 2015 and is responsible for underwriting and marketing all lines of Accident and Health reinsurance business.

    Doris is a graduate of the University of Toronto, with a Major in Commerce.

  • Kelly Graham, Underwriter

    Kelly’s responsibilities include the analysis of risks for underwriting purposes, the preparation and delivery of quotes and reinsurance certificates, as well as the development of underwriting reports. Kelly brings direct insurance experience to the role, having underwritten several Special Risk classes of business. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a double major in Economics and International Relations. She recently completed her Master of Management degree at the Schulich School of Business.

  • Maureen Mulcahy, Claims Director

    Maureen is a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce. She has over 30 years of experience in adjudicating accident and health reinsurance claims. In her ten years at a major Canadian Reinsurer, and then sixteen years at a Managing General Underwriter, Maureen gained experience which led to her being responsible for overseeing the entire claims department including establishing and implementing adjudication and audit procedures.

    In 2014 she joined a Canadian Lloyd’s reinsurance broker and gained P&C and general liability experience. She gained valuable experience in utilizing Lloyd’s accounting and claims systems, which serves her well at Sutton since joining in 2018 to adjudicate claims on behalf of Lloyd’s Underwriters for Sutton Re’s book of business.
