Sutton Reinsurance Expansion

Last week we welcomed Doris Lai as the newest member of our Sutton Re team, as Assistant Vice President, Underwriting. Doris has gained extensive Accident and Health Reinsurance underwriting experience at Sun Life and more recently at Manulife. Sutton Re's business has grown significantly over the past few years and we are very excited to have Doris join us to assist in our continued growth and to service our expanding client base.

As we pass through the mid point of 2015, I am reminded that next year, will mark Sutton Re's 30th Anniversary of our entry into the Reinsurance business. A lot has changed since 1986 when our first few Canadian facultative policies were written on behalf of our pool members. Fortunately, many of the positive aspects of Sutton Re and our industry have held strong.

Long term relationships with both our valued clients and our key supporting underwriting partners have endured market changes, tragic global events, and general uncertainty. While we find ourselves seemingly entrenched in a soft market, with M&A activity continuing to whirl around us and alternate sources of Reinsurance trying to find their place, I remain comforted in what still matters to our clients and how Sutton Re is able to respond now and into the future.

I am confident that longevity remains valuable to our clients. We have responded to the specialized reinsurance needs of insurance companies and their brokers for 30 years with A rated security and a consistently high level of service. Our supporting markets have trust in Sutton Re and so do our clients. It remains a priority that our partners possess favourable ratings, strong capitalization and can write reinsurance not only in North America but in many countries worldwide. While Sutton Re continues to grow in Canada and the United States, we have expanded globally too in recent years, with business in Europe, Australia, Asia and Latin America.
